PETS FIRST – PET FIRST AID

 6 hours of classroom time: learning how to do different Bandaging Techniques, how and when to use the Heimlich maneuver. Should you do Artificial Breathing on your pet how and to do it. Did your pet’s heart stop beating, learn about CPR. This course teaches you the things you need to know and do for your pet in an Emergency Situation to try and help save their life:

·        What you need to do in an Emergency situation

·        Using the  Heimlich Maneuver on your pet when they are choking on food or an object

·        Learn what you need to do if your pet quits breathing; Artificial Respiration (AR)

·        Learn what you have to do if your pet’s heart stops beating (CPR)

·        What are and are not serious medical problems

·        How to recognize Shock and what to do to help your pet

·        How to stop and control serious bleeding injuries

·        Splinting and bandaging injured or broken tails and legs

·        Bandaging an injured, eye, ear or other head injuries

·        What to do deal with an object stuck in your pets body

 Karrie is a certified Pet First Aid Instructor, who has been teaching Pet First Aid for 5 years; I also teach obedience classes with Gas City Dog Club.

Prior to teaching Pet First Aid and Obedience training I worked in the Medical Field as an AHT for 5 years, and an EMT for 20 years, volunteered with St John Ambulance for 4 years and Medicine Hat Ambulance Volunteer for 2 years.

I have owned and worked with German Shepherds for 42 years, which includes training for obedience, breeding and trialing in obedience. I received my first German Shepherd at the age of 10 from the Calgary City Police, who taught me how to groom, train and show dogs.
