PETS FIRST – PET FIRST AID

       TRAINING   COURSE     

                                                                   

 This course is designed to give the pet lover the necessary information and skill to restrain and stabilize an injured animal until Veterinary care is accessed.

 

 8 hours of classroom time, hands on for learning different Bandaging Techniques, Heimlich Maneuver, AR and CPR. Pets are encouraged to attend.

 

LEARN: How to Save an Animals Life in an Emergency Situation

·        Control Bleeding

·        Splint a broken limb or tail

·        Bandage injured limbs, eye, ear and head injuries

·        Stabilize an impaled object

·        Learn how to do the Heimlich Maneuver on your pet

·        Learn how to give Artificial Respiration (AR)

·        Learn how to do CPR on your pet

·        Recognize signs and symptoms of Shock

·        Recognize Medical Conditions and Emergencies

 Karrie is a certified Pet First Aid Instructor, who has been teaching Pet First Aid for 5 years; I also teach obedience classes with Gas City Dog Club.

Prior to teaching Pet First Aid and Obedience training I worked in the Medical Field as an AHT for 5 years, and an EMT for 20 years, volunteered with St John Ambulance for 4 years and Medicine Hat Ambulance Volunteer for 2 years.

I have owned and worked with German Shepherds for 42 years, which includes training for obedience, breeding and trialing in obedience. I received my first German Shepherd at the age of 10 from the Calgary City Police, who taught me how to groom, train and show dogs.
