Registration Fee - $140.00/6 weeks

Rally Obedience is a type of dog sport based on obedience. It shares aspects of both obedience and agility. In this sport, the dogs and handlers progress through a designated course performing obedience commands based on the signs posted along the course. This course covers the basics of rally obedience, including a variety of commands and an overview of following directional signs through an obstacle course. In rally obedience, attitude is more important than precision.

Training Prerequisite: Dogs must have completed an introductory obedience course, such as the Small or Large Breed Obedience class held at the club. Handlers must be able to control their dogs. Dogs must be of sound body, have good joints and muscle tone. Emphasis will be on control, safety and fun; this course isn't a contest or a race!

Lessons Covered:

Reviewing basic obedience commands including Sit, Down, Stay, Stop, and Go
Learning a variety of more advanced maneuvers, including Figure-8, Spirals, Fronts and Finishes, and a variety of pivots and turns.
Following directional signs through a course of ten to twenty commands
Staying tuned into the handler at all times, fostering a sense of teamwork and cooperation
Working in an environment with other dogs around
Developing the bond between handler and dog by working together toward a shared goal
Other areas are covered as well, with any questions answered.

Next Steps: Dogs who complete Rally Obedience may enjoy courses in agility or scent work, among others

Pre-Registration Not Required

‍Registration Fee: $10.00/drop-in session or $100 for a12-session punch card

NOTE: In order to provide the best possible experience for dog and handler, the Gas City Dog Club reserves the right to control the number of dogs present in the training room during the drop-in session.

Important Notes Regarding All Classes

The following points apply to all classes offered at the Gas City Dog Club.

For the health and safety of all participants, Gas City Dog club will adhere to all provincial and/or municipal health regulations.
All training is based on the humane treatment of the dog and positive reinforcement methods.
Instructors do not train your dog for you, the owner/handler. Instead, they teach you how to work with your dog to get the results you want.
Classes are conducted for approximately one hour per week, for either four or seven weeks. Most classes are offered three to four times per year depending on demand.
To preserve the health and safety of all participants, your dog’s vaccinations must be up to date prior to starting any class.
Pre-registration is required for all courses. On-line registration is strongly recommended, as class numbers are limited and we operate on a first-come, first-served basis. If unable to register on-line, please call 403-528-DOGS(3647)
All registrants will be contacted by phone prior to the commencement of the class session to confirm registration and give information regarding the in-person registration event. This event allows us to finish administrative tasks, creating more time for your dog during the first session of the course. Dates and times for these registration events will be posted on the website.
Registration fees of $140.00 for each 6-week session are utilized to support a range of club activities. Be sure to ask us about our reduced registration fees for:
- Dogs adopted from a rescue organization
- Special Breeder’s Discount
- Returning participants – second and subsequent classes
- GCDC Sponsored Programs – Pet Therapy
Payment of registration fees is by cash or cheque only.
Gifts available for the dog lover in your family:
